Toot Loot M'Groot
Toot Loot M'Groot
An original composition introducing the string orchestra to the swinging style of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli.
A fun and quirky entry level jazz tune for young string players. The piece is derived from the darker harmony of Django Reinhardt, and fun syncopations of New Orleans Dixieland. Toot Loot’s final B section even introduces the kids to some basic call and response improvising!
The name is inspired by a former student, Mabel Sherwin who’s eponymous quote “Toot, Loot M’Groot” cycled through many (nonsensical) meanings before finally taking place as the name of her pet ladybug.
Finally, upon purchase of this score, you will receive a downloadable link to a recording of every part in this piece, with a backing track, (at fast and slow tempos), for students individual practise.
